Summary
The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, goods, and services necessary for the organization’s operations. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, and optimizing cost-efficiency. The Buyer will collaborate closely with the supply chain, finance, and production teams to meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Research, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and service.
Solicit and evaluate quotes, bids, and proposals for necessary goods and services.
Negotiate pricing with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
Order Management:
Issue purchase orders (POs) and ensure accuracy of details including pricing, delivery dates, and product specifications.
Monitor and track orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues related to delays or discrepancies.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
Coordinate returns of defective or incorrect items with suppliers.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all purchases are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
Maintain accurate and organized records of supplier contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
Oversee the setup of all new vendors.
Regularly update and maintain supplier databases and procurement reports.
Qualifications:
Education: Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field.
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in a buyer, procurement, or purchasing role.
Experience in managing supplier relationships.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Yooz).
Certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, or APICS).
Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
